Wheelchair basketball is open to athletes ages 5-18 with a wide range of physical disabilities that affect lower limb function.

No. Some athletes use a wheelchair full-time, while others may be ambulatory but have a qualifying physical disability that meets NWBA eligibility requirements.

No prior experience is required. We welcome athletes of all skill levels, including beginners who are interested in learning the sport.

Your first team practice is complimentary, giving athletes the opportunity to experience wheelchair basketball and meet the team before committing to the season.
If the athlete chooses to join the program, the seasonal participation fees are:
Practice-Only Participation: $100 per season
Travel Team Participation: $200 per season
We strive to keep participation fees as affordable as possible so that more youth athletes can experience the benefits of adaptive sports. Fundraising and donations help offset the true cost of operating the program.

Athletes compete using specialized sports wheelchairs designed specifically for wheelchair basketball.
In many cases, the team can help new athletes access equipment while they get started. Thanks to AMAZING donations, we have SEVERAL Team Chairs that you “Borrow” for as long as you need while playing as a Mad City Badger!

Practices are typically held in the Madison, Wisconsin area at local gym facilities, primarily Baraboo, WI and Madison, WI.
Open Gyms are tyically held in Fennimore, WI weekly as well!
Specific practice schedules and locations are shared with team members at the start of each season.

Yes. The Mad City Badgers Travel Team participates in roughly 7-8 tournaments per Season throughout the United States (primarily the Midwest), providing athletes with opportunities to compete against other teams at a high level.
