The Mad City Badgers host open team practices each week during the season. Practices are typically held on
Friday evenings from 6:00–9:30 PM or Saturday mornings from 10:00 AM–1:00 PM
at gym facilities in Baraboo, Wisconsin or Madison, Wisconsin.
Our practices are open to anyone interested in learning more about wheelchair basketball. New athletes are always welcome to attend and experience the sport firsthand.
Your first team practice is complimentary, providing an opportunity to meet the team, learn about the program, and try wheelchair basketball before committing to the season.
Seasonal Participation Fees
Practice-Only Participation: $100 per season
Travel Team Participation: $200 per season
These participation fees help offset the cost of gym rentals and practice facilities throughout the season.

Our Travel Team competes in approximately 7 tournaments each season throughout the US-primarily the Midwest. These tournaments are typically held in states such as Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana, as well as several locations within Wisconsin.
Each season, the Mad City Badgers are proud to host our home tournament in December in Verona, Wisconsin, bringing teams from across the region together for competitive wheelchair basketball.
At the conclusion of the season, our Travel Team may qualify or be invited to compete in the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) National Championship Tournament, which is hosted annually at a location within the United States.
Tournament entry fees are covered by the team through a combination of fundraising, donations, and travel team participation fees.
Families are responsible for arranging and covering transportation and lodging for their athlete when traveling to tournaments.

During the school year, we host weekly Open Gym sessions once a week from 4:00-6:00pm in Fennimore, Wisconsin.
These sessions are free to attend and are open to anyone interested in learning more about wheelchair basketball or trying the sport for the first time. Open Gym provides a relaxed and welcoming environment for athletes of all skill levels to get involved, build skills, and experience the game.

Each season, the Mad City Badgers host 1 to 2 Wheelchair Basketball Demonstration Days at schools throughout Wisconsin. The locations are selected by the team each season based on community interest and partnership opportunities.
These events provide an opportunity for our athletes to demonstrate the sport of wheelchair basketball, share their experiences, and educate students and community members about adaptive athletics. Participants are often invited to try wheelchair basketball themselves, including friendly games where able-bodied players can experience the sport from a new perspective.
Demonstration Days serve as an important way to raise awareness about adaptive sports, recruit new athletes, and connect with communities across the state.
In addition, these events often include a silent auction and basket raffle, helping raise funds to support team equipment, tournament participation, and program expenses.
These events play a vital role in both fundraising for the program and introducing new athletes to the sport of wheelchair basketball.
